Definition
This field denotes the proportion of the FTE in the reporting period not taught by the returning provider.
Reason Required
Required by the OfS to attribute students to a named delivery organisation for the purposes of reporting on 'teaching provider' consistently. This is used in Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) indicators, NSS results and other sources of student information (DiscoverUni), regional analysis, and analysis of student outcomes used to evidence providers' compliance with registration conditions concerned with quality and standards.

This field relates to the proportion of the FTE in the reporting year not taught by the reporting provider's staff, and not the location at which the teaching takes place.

PCOLAB is not required for students out on placement or exchange, or for learning in the workplace.

Where the entirety of the FTE for the reporting year is delivered by franchising only, a value of 100.0 should be returned. Otherwise a value in the range 0.1 to 100.0 is returned.

The length of this field is 5 characters, data should be returned with or without leading zeros or the decimal place, e.g. 005.0 or 5.0 or 5. Care must be taken to ensure that a PCOLAB of 100 is not mistakenly returned as 1, or a PCOLAB of 50 is not mistakenly returned as 0.5.
