Accessing ILR Data

Local Authorities may apply for access to National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) data via the ILR to help fulfil statutory responsibilities for:

  • Young people aged 16–18

  • Young people aged 16–25 with learning difficulties and/or disabilities

This data enables LAs to:

  • Promote engagement in education, training, and employment

  • Track and support young people not currently participating

  • Monitor progress and participation

  • Identify individuals needing additional support

  • Provide tailored guidance and connect young people with opportunities

The Department for Education (DfE) offers ILR data through two release schedules:

  • Monthly Release

These are distributed according to the official monthly timetable .

  • Twice-Yearly Release

These are distributed in January (SN04) and End of February (SN06)

Designated Employer Representative Bodies (ERBs), who have responsibility for the development, implementation and review of Local Skills Improvement Plans (LSIPs) can request Individualised Learner Record (ILR) data, released at 2 points in the year. More specifically, the data will help designated ERBs to identify the provision currently available to address the skills needs identified within their areas, and therefore the actions and activities that could be required to meet the needs. The Department for Education (DfE) offers ILR data through two releases annually, these are distributed in February (R06) and October (R14).
