The provision types for Community Learning have been revised to show the purpose of Community Learning provision in line with the objectives outlined in the AEB funding and performance management rules (Annex B). From the 1st of August this field should be used to align delivery with the community learning objective relevant to the learning which is being delivered.

Learners must be recorded against the codes outlined in the table below which relate to the Community Learning objectives as follows:

  1. ACL1 = ‘improved confidence and willingness to engage in learning’.

  2. ACL2 = ‘acquisition of skills preparing people for training, employment or self-employment’. This objective has been separated into two codes. ACL2 records those learners undertaking provision for further learning.

  3. ACL3 = ‘acquisition of skills preparing people for training, employment or self-employment’. This objective has been separated into two codes. ACL3 records those learners undertaking provision for employment or self-employment.

  4. ACL4 = ‘improved digital, financial literacy and/or communication skills’. ACL4 has been revised to reflect current terminology, ‘essential skills’,which includes English (including English for speakers of Other Languages), maths, and digital provision.

  5. ACL5 = ‘parents/carers better equipped to support and encourage their children’s learning’.

  6. ACL6 = 'improved/maintained health and/or social well-being’.

  7. ACL7 = ‘develop stronger communities, with more self-sufficient, connected and pro-active citizens, leading to: increased volunteering, civic engagement and social integration; reduced costs on welfare, health and anti-social behaviour; increased online learning and self-organised learning; the lives of our most troubled families being turned around’

In addition to the above, for provision being delivered through Family Learning, please also assign attribute code AFL 1. Further information can be found on the page headed ‘Community Learning which is Family Learning: attribute field’.

For non-funded learners, this field is collected for Local Authority funded Community Learning provision only (Funding model 99 and Source of funding 108).
