Definition

To identify any additional monitoring characteristics required for the learner.

Reason Required

To monitor participation in programmes and initiatives. Can be used tactically in year to identify new programmes and initiatives by using codes described as unassigned at the start of the year.

  • Collected for all learners

Notes

  • Code 17 is used to identify learner records which are being migrated between providers as part of a merger. This code should be recorded on the learner record being migrated from the original provider and on the learner record at the new provider to allow the records to be matched. Providers should contact the Service Desk to discuss the details of any proposed merger before using this code.

  • Code 18 is used to identify learners who have moved to a different provider as a result of the Minimum Contract Level. The new provider will need to complete the UKPRN in previous year field and the Learner reference number in previous year fields if applicable.

  • Code 21 is used to identify learners whose learning has been supported by the 16-19 tuition fund. The 16-19 tuition fund is provided to support small group tuition for 16 to 19 students in English, maths and other courses where learning has been disrupted by coronavirus (COVID-19). All learners in receipt of tutoring funded by the 16-19 tuition fund must be recorded in the ILR using this code. For more information about the tuition fund, refer to the 16 to 19 funding: 16 to 19 tuition fund. This code should not be recorded for a student who is eligible to receive the tuition fund but who has not received tutoring through the tuition fund.

  • Code 22 is used to identify learners exceptionally repeating up to one full year of 16-19 funded provision. For more information about repeat provision please refer to the Resits and Retakes section of the 16-19 funding regulations.
